Do all restaurants give out free food to cops?

Q:

A: No, they don't, but they probably should since the cops are the ones out there laying their lives on the line to protect them. Cops routinely make their rounds at restaurants, not for a hand out, but to make sure everything is OK. I see nothing wrong with the owner saying "Thanks for stopping by" with a burger or even just a cup of coffee on a bitter cold night. The cops will then return more often than on their regular rounds. Witness the Seacrest Diner on Long Island back in the 70's. A carefully planned hold up turned ugly and resulted in multiple rapes and murders. They knew it was an easy mark. The owner wasn't "cop friendly". Not even a cup of coffee on a cold night.
