A: Weirdest tipping --- Friend of mine invited us to a formal Japanese dinner (private room, tons of little courses) since he would be flying into NYC. At end of meal he asked manager to come over. In front of the three wait staff he started speaking apparently Japanese. The manager and all the wait staff had mortified looks on their faces. He proceeded to take out of his wallet 2 bank notes from Japan that he gave to the two male wait staff. He gave a very generous tip to the female wait person. Later I asked him what was that about. Apparently the two male wait staff were making very graphic comments as to their intents with our wives, so he gave them tips of about 0.25 cents each. So, I asked, why the big tip for the other ? Apparently her comment to the male wait staff was that maybe they could get women like that if they had what he had in his pants. I never knew that he had learned Japanese for business, obviously they hadn't known that either.
