How do restaurants get their napkins clean?

Q: Do they take them to a dry cleaner or what?

A: It's a linen service. They also provide tablecloths, rags, towels, aprons, rugs, and so forth. Anything soiled is tossed into a hamper they provide, and once a week they pick it up and drop off clean loads. If anything is permanently stained, it doesn't get reused at any restaurant or hotel. If you ever see an old stain on a fresh napkin, that means the restaurant tries to skip the cost of the linen company by doing it themselves. That's bad.
