Q: ok I'm thinking about getting a job as a waitress I'm just wondering about how much would you say you make a night off tips? and also do you like your job? i think i would like it cause I'm really social also where do you work I'm just wondering cause people probably get bigger tips at fancier restaurants well thank you and tell me anything else you think i need to know

A: I've been a waitress for 20+ years, and I like my job. I work in a locally owned family restaurant. Yes, you do get better tips at fancier restaurants. But you can get good tips anywhere, as long as you are a good waitress. To me, if you're social, then you should work at a "regular" restaurant. That way, you can talk to people, and get to know them. A fancy restaurant, they want service and small talk. Very small talk. I work days, and make anywhere from $60-90 a day. But I'm also in a small town, and that is about normal. It all depends on the atmosphere of the restaurant, and where you live. But overall, pay attention to your tables and smile. People hate being ignored, and they do not want a crabby waitress!!! Good luck!!!
