Romantic date in Tempe?

Q: im looking to take my girl out on a date in Tempe. Im an ASU student and a car is not a problem im just looking for someplace to go that is romantic. IM from colorado so i dont really know my way around town all that well. if you guys could just tell me some places i could go that would be great! And i looked at house of tricks but it is closed on sunday when i want to take her out. i was trying to go along the lines of sunset and dinner

A: Yes - House of Tricks when you can manage another day to go there ~ prices are reasonable for the quality of food served. I haven't been to Tempe since May '07 and just discovered (on Zagat) that a Trader Vic's opened in Scottsdale two years ago. This brought back memories of many fun times, and good food, at their NYC restaurant in The Plaza Hotel in the1960's. Really - most restaurants can be romantic - depends upon the person you're with, time of day and table location. When (or if, once you see the prices!) you make your reservation, ask for a corner table away from the kitchen entry and exit doors, or book for outdoor dining an hour before sunset. Their drinks are beautifully presented and the food should be very good. The Hearts of Iceberg salad was on the old menu, without the bacon, and cost $1.50 "back then". I didn't realize how many of their drinks I've had until seeing the drink menu (but never more than one per evening!): the Pino Frio is good as is the Raffles Sling but the gardenia in the Passion Punch makes this a winner. Looking at the menu has made me hungry so, please, reserve a table for three and I'll see you Sunday at 6:45pm. I look forward to having a Mai Tai, Almond Duck Tidbits and Crusted Ahi but, with the Ahi, wish to have the sides and ponzu which are served with the Ginger Crusted Halibut. Thank you!. It's early a.m. and I'm a night-owl which is why I'm ranting ... hope you have a superb evening wherever you decide to go.
